Every workspace has an inbox. Investor updates and board material sent there land on the right company automatically, with attachments, summaries and KPIs extracted.
Portfolio reporting arrives by email. Fundra gives your workspace its own address – anything sent or forwarded to it is parsed, matched to a portfolio company, and shown on that company's Investor updates tab together with attachments, an AI summary and any KPIs it contained.
Your workspace address
Where your-workspace is your Fundra subdomain. You'll also find the address, with a copy button, on any company's Investor updates tab.
Almost every fund uses a branded address instead – see use your own domain below. Portfolio companies then only ever see reporting@yourfund.vc, and you keep a copy of everything in your own mail system.
Set up
Option 1 – Send directly
Ask your portfolio companies to add your-workspace@fundra.cc to the recipients of their regular investor updates. Nothing else is needed; the first update will show up within a minute of being sent.
Option 2 – Use your own domain
Recommended. Create an address on your own domain – for example reporting@yourfund.vc – and forward it to your-workspace@fundra.cc.
- Create the address (or a distribution group) in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or wherever your mail is hosted.
- Add a forwarding rule to
your-workspace@fundra.cc. In Google Workspace this is Apps → Google Workspace → Gmail → Routing, or a plain forwarding rule on the mailbox; in Microsoft 365 it's a mail flow rule. - In Fundra, go to Settings → General and set Reporting email to your branded address, so it's the one shown to your team and in reporting flows.
- Tell your portfolio companies to use it going forward.
Because forwarding is a rule on your own mailbox, you keep a copy of every update in your own mail system as well.
Option 3 – Forward manually
Forward any email to the workspace address from your own inbox. Forwarded messages are unwrapped, so the original sender and date are preserved rather than showing you as the sender.
Backfilling history
Everything above works retroactively. If you already have a reporting inbox – years of updates sitting in reporting@yourfund.vc, or a folder in someone's mailbox – forward it in bulk and Fundra rebuilds the timeline: each update filed against the right company at its original date, with attachments stored and KPIs extracted.
Funds arriving with two or three years of accumulated history routinely backfill the lot, which means the portfolio has a usable track record on day one rather than starting from the next quarter.
No forms, no portal, no chasing. Portfolio companies keep sending updates the way they already do – Fundra reads them. That also means adoption doesn't depend on founders changing their behaviour, which is where reporting tools usually stall.
How updates are matched to companies
Fundra works down a chain of signals until it finds a company:
- Existing thread – replies land on the same company as the original message.
- Sender domain – matched against your portfolio companies' domains, including known aliases and domains that redirect to them.
- Known contact – the sender's email address matched against contacts on your companies.
- Forwarded content – when you forward from your own domain, the original sender is extracted from the quoted headers and matched instead. This runs recursively through several levels of forwarding.
- Subject line and body – domains mentioned in the subject or in the forwarded body, and recipients on the original message.
If nothing matches, the update is still stored and can be assigned to a company by hand.
What happens to an update
- Attachments are extracted and saved to the company's files – decks, reports, spreadsheets. Inline images stay inline in the message body.
- A summary is generated: the good, the challenges, team changes, metrics and asks, as bullet points.
- KPIs are extracted when the update looks like it contains reporting data – ARR, revenue, runway, headcount and the rest – and land as metrics on the company, ready to review.
- Contacts mentioned on the thread are added to the company's contacts.
- The investment manager and deputy for that company get a notification.
- Reports pick the update up: when you build a quarterly report, updates received since the last one are offered as source material.
Notes and limits
- The workspace address only accepts the exact address – it does not support plus-addressing such as
your-workspace+acme@fundra.cc. - Duplicate messages are detected by message ID, so a company sending to both your branded address and the Fundra address won't create two copies.
- Calendar invites and tracking pixels are ignored rather than stored as attachments.
